Release of RadiantOne Suite aims to broaden identity, context virtualization

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Radiant Logic introduces its new RadiantOne Suite 5.2 for businesses who want to globalize their business from a local management hub. The suite of products includes Virtual Directory Server Context Edition 5.2 and Identity and Correlation Server 5.2.

Utilizing the new Global Identifier & Profile Builder technology, RadiantOne Suite 5.2 enables enterprises to create a comprehensive list of all identities and their profiles drawn from their applications, databases and directories without having to merge security systems.

Additionally, the suite’s implementation of the Membership & Policy Builder technology simplifies SharePoint authentication, therefore expanding authorization and management capabilities. For example, the product has the ability to assign users to roles based on attributes in their profiles.

On the data management side, this eases the challenge of defining and maintaining static role members. Also on the configuration side, because RadiantOne can assign users to roles, SharePoint can begin to implement more specific policies. [end]

Oracle has released a new version of Oracle Retail Point-of-Service that aims to increase security, operational efficiency and functionality in part by integrating biometrics.

Oracle partnered with DigitalPersonal to add integrated biometrics to the POS package. Users of the software will login using their fingerprint, which will replace the need for PINs or passwords. This feature intends to reduce fraud by eliminating the possibility of unauthorized employees using a manager ID or swipe card to access the POS and approve overrides.
