GrIDsure and Field Fisher Waterhouse tackle data security law and authentication in white paper

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

On the heels of the European Union’s plan to require businesses to notify customers when data breaches occur, pattern based authentication provider GrIDsure has teamed up with European law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse to publish a white paper on compliance of user authentication in European IT environments.

Field Fisher Waterhouse takes on the legal angle of the paper, discussing the law of confidence and the law of negligence as it relates to data security. The paper also includes a review of the EU Data Protection Directive, rules on corporate governance, and what “state of the art” means legally for user authentication technology.

The authors also discuss the security flaws of many popular authentication technologies and compares pattern based authentication in terms of capability and compliance.

The paper is available for download at GrIDsure’s Web site[end]
