New Wall-Mounted Fingerprint and Smart Card Reader for Physical Access Control

Quebec City, Canada – February 6th, 2003- Labcal Technologies Inc., a company delivering authentication solutions based on Fingerprint, Public Key Cryptography and Smart Card Technologies, now extends its offering, by launching a new device in the SmartPrint range of products, the SmartPrint Mountie (SAC-2500). Pharmaceuticals giant Pfizer employs more than 8,000 people at its manufacturing facility in Sandwich, Kent, England. When the company investigated access control alternatives to better secure facilities and protect staff, they looked to contactless technology to provide the solution. 

American Express goes contactless for access control at its company headquarters

American Express employees are using a contactless card storing a biometric template to gain access to their office facilities at the Amex World Headquarters in New York. The fingerprint template software and access readers are developed by Bioscrypt. Though this was not confirmed by the companies involved, sources indicate that the card contains a 1k Mifare chip from Philips.

   Schlumberger, a global technology services company (NYSE: SLB), today announced its DeXa.Badge security solution has been selected by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. to reinforce the physical and logical security at all Nissan facilities worldwide. SchlumbergerSema, the IT business unit of Schlumberger, will manage this project.
